🍎 All About Me Preschool Theme - Week 1 of Homeschool Preschool Curriculum
The first week of my printable homeschool preschool curriculum is the all about me theme. Isn't that a great place to begin? Your children will love talking all about their likes, dislikes and their age etc.
I worked very intentionally about creating the curriculum to have activity based AND worksheets. I believe they go together so nicely. The worksheets allow your children to practice writing the numbers and letters. Also, there are several opportunities to practice the fine motor skills of cutting and gluing!
Sensory Activity
Each week of the homeschool preschool curriculum has a sensory activity! The sensory activity is either a playdough activity or a sensory bin activity. This week it is a playdough activity where the children make the feelings on the multicultural faces. Then, you can ask your children to discuss a time they felt that feeling.
Number of the Week Math Activity
Each week has a number of the week. This week the number is zero! This worksheet is the first math activity of the week. Did you see the last activity on this page? 😂
The second math activity for the week is super fun! Your children get to tell how old they are. They cut out the candles for how old they are and glue them to the cake. Cute, cute!
STEM Activity
The STEM activity for the week is building a house with toothpicks and mini marshmallows! If you want to make it healthier, you could use cut up grapes, if your children can handle eating them.
Art Activity
The art activity for the week is having your children draw a self-portrait. I recommend the skin tone colored pencils to color them in. Have you seen those yet? I LOVE them. It is so nice to be able to choose a shade that is close to your own skin tone. You can check them out on the Crayola® website HERE.
Letter of the Week Activity
The letter of the week is letter A. This worksheet will help you remember the steps for drawing the letter in the correct order. I made sure to put that in there to give you the confidence for teaching the alphabet to your children.
The second alphabet activity for the week will work on those fine motor skills. Your children get to cut out the pictures that start with the letter a and glue them next to the matching photo.
Other Skills
The homeschool preschool curriculum comes with 2 other skills activities. This gave me the wiggle room in the curriculum to get to practice skills that have already been taught or put in some extra skills that just don't have a regular category.
The first other skill activity is this all about me poster. It is super cute and your children will love filling in the items. The children can use pictures instead of words for sure.
The second other skills activity for the week is having your children cut out the food pictures and gluing them into the column of "foods I like" or "foods I don't like". This can also lead to a fun discussion of the different foods!
Optional: Pretend Play Packs
One of the things that makes my homeschool preschool curriculum unique is that I have made pretend play activities that go with each theme! These are optional add on activities that you can purchase separately. The pretend play pack that goes with this all about me theme is school. Your kids will have SO MUCH FUN playing school AND it will give you a chance to drink your coffee while they play. You can see the school pretend play pack by clicking HERE.
Phew!! That was a lot to tell you about, and that was only week 1 of 38 weeks of homeschool preschool curriculum. I worked super hard to make it fun for the kids AND the parents/teachers. Also, I wanted it to be super easy to follow. You also don't need fancy supplies. You can use it for homeschooling your preschooler OR for using with your children at your in home childcare center.
